Former Paris Saint Germain defender Francis Llacer, who worked with Luis Fernandez at the French club, told The Jerusalem Post that Fernandez's move to Betar has created a buzz among European players.
"When you have this man in the club its not him that contacts the players, it"s the players who talk to him," Llacer said.
"A lot of players in France and Europe like him and are interested in coming to Betar. They all know he is a famous coach and when you work with him you grow and go up in value.
"I know there"s some famous players in France and in Spain who are interested."
Llacer, who works as a club scout in France, England and Spain, said he was sent to Israel by Fernandez to compile a report on Betar.
Llacer spent two weeks in the country making detailed notes on how the Jerusalem club is run and the caliber of the players.
He said: "I told Luis that this is a very good club with good players. I am very impressed with number 15 [Maor Melikson] and number seven [Idan Malichi].
"All the players are very good but I think these two can play in any country in Europe."
